The NP4A is the product of Nordstrandâs original angled pole piece design fused with the simplistic yet throaty and aggressive tone inherent to the P-bass style. The result of this combination produces a vibrational luster that is resonant of all the best aspects of precision-style playing; but is then able to go above and beyond the traditional P pickup with its hard hitting, note sustaining integrity that administers a voice that will carry your sound farther than any standard P could ever dream. A passive tone knob thrown in conjunction with this pickup will reveal an unrelenting and dynamic spectrum of midrange versatility, divinely blending the pickupâs full-bodied bottom-end with its rippling, staccato highs. The NP4A features an angled pole piece designâŠhence, the âAâ for angled. While sharing a lot of similarities to the NP4, especially the nice, wide tonal range, we hear a slight bit more presence throughout. The top end has a bit of a snap that is pleasing and not at all over bearing. A player looking for a vintage pickup with a touch more presence will likely enjoy these pickups quite a bit.

I bought used Squier mini precision to fiddle around with after watching a few YouTube videos. The stock pickups were OK, but they lacked bottom end. I put the Nordstrand NP4A in it because I wanted it to be bright with good clarity. This thing sounds great. Added my own tonedrop So that I could adjust the capacitors myself. The combination is excellent, it gives me the bright puniness I was looking for with the bottom end I was looking for in my tone knob. Working out very nicely.Been playing it at church and Iâd have no problem taking it other places.
The guys at fat tone bass were excellent. I love all the videos where they take the time to play the pick ups. Were also very helpful and helping me with questions I had. All in all a great experience.
