DESCRIPTION

The Trickfish Internal Pre Amp (IPA) is a high performance, low noise internal bass preamp system built upon two ideas – superior tonal flexibility and effortless installation. Sharing many of the sonic signatures found in the Flexcore line of preamps, the IPA delivers the same musical and transparent character as its older sibling. The shelving bass and treble controls and selectable frequency points for bass, midrange, and treble offer the ultimate in tone shaping capabilities.

Trickfish's simple plug connections allow for the addition of 2 or 3 bands of active EQ to your instrument without the need to solder. All EQ pots, toggle switches, and the output jack are prewired for an easy installation and the solderless screw terminals make input connections painless. The IPA’s small size (1.9” x 1.2”) circuit board is preinstalled with Velcro and was designed to fit virtually any bass.

An optional prewired Mid-Frequency Switch is available to add on to your chosen preamp configuration.

The IPA and IPA-S preamps are available in the standard configuration sold by Trickfish as well as custom configurations that we have assembled for customer ease.

Our custom configurations can also be ordered as a prewired harness for easier installation.

Standard kit includes:

  • IPA or IPA-S Preamp Module
  • Prewired EQ Pots (3 Single Pots for IPA ::: 1 Single Pot & 1 Stacked Pot for IPA-S)
  • Prewired Active/Passive Switch
  • Prewired Output Jack

Custom kits include:

The IPA requires soldering of a passive section, i.e., volume, blend, tone, etc. The preamp module itself is solderless.

Awesome preamp

I needed to find a go to preamp after Audere announced that they were no longer producing preamps. The Trickfish IPA sounds great, and is easy to install. The sound is transparent, which is what I was looking for. It has features that the Audere did not such as an active/passive switch, and a gain pot to adjust for different pickup output levels. The only thing I miss about the Audere are the very small pots they used, which made install into smaller control cavities easier. I have installed two of the Trickfish preamps into 2 different Ibanez BTB basses paired with Delano and Bartolini pickups. Both sound awesome!

Great Preamp and Easy to Install

I was able to swap out a failing preamp for this pre-wired Trick-fish 3 band preamp. I was able to install without having to solder any connections and had the whole job completed in under 20 minutes. The preamp sounds great and has a very musical eq curve. I will be using this preamp in another bass soon.
