DESCRIPTION

The Jad Freer Sarto is designed for players who want to hear more of their instrument—not more of their preamp. Rather than adding tube coloration or vintage-style saturation, Sarto delivers an exceptionally transparent signal path with enormous headroom and precise tone shaping. It enhances what is already there, preserving the natural voice of your bass while giving you complete control over how it sits in the mix.

At the heart of the Sarto is a studio-quality clean preamp, flexible EQ section, and professional-grade DI built into a compact, pedalboard-friendly enclosure. The uniquely voiced variable high-pass filter tightens the low end without making your tone feel thin, while the selectable EQ frequencies allow you to move effortlessly between vintage warmth, modern articulation, and everything in between. Whether you are performing live, recording direct, or using an upright bass, Sarto delivers clean gain with remarkable clarity and enormous headroom.

Built entirely in Italy, the Sarto continues Jad Freer's philosophy of creating uncompromising tools for serious musicians. If you are looking for a transparent, studio-quality preamp that helps your instrument sound more like itself while giving you powerful tone shaping and an exceptional direct output, the Jad Freer Sarto deserves a place on your pedalboard.

CONTROLS & FEATURES

Ultra-High Impedance Clean Preamp: The low-noise input stage features fixed gain, enormous headroom, and extremely high input impedance. This makes the Sarto particularly well suited for piezo-equipped instruments while preserving every detail of the original source signal.

Resonant High-Pass Filter: The uniquely voiced variable high-pass filter is adjustable from 5 Hz to 200 Hz. More than a simple low-cut control, it tightens the low end, improves clarity, and helps protect cabinet lifespan. It also introduces a subtle resonance around the selected frequency for enhanced punch and focus, delivering some of the benefits of a deep switch while maintaining greater control and definition.

Expanded Tone Shaping: The EQ section features selectable shelving frequencies for both the Bass and Treble controls. This allows you to move between vintage warmth, modern articulation, and everything in between.

Polarity Control: A dedicated polarity switch affects both the unbalanced and XLR outputs. It can help reduce feedback when using acoustic instruments and simplify phase alignment when combining multiple signal paths, including microphones and DI signals.

Compact Format: The compact, pedalboard-friendly enclosure features top-mounted jacks and power to help conserve valuable pedalboard space.

WHAT ARTISTS ARE SAYING

"I love the Sarto! Compact but powerful preamp. Super useful on electric and acoustic bass."

Tim Lefebvre

"The Sarto Preamp has improved my amplified sound on the upright bass so much that I now bring it to every gig I play. The combination of the low pass filter and the versatile EQ allows me to dial in a clear sound in any room with amazingly clean gain."

Logan Kane

"I've relied on the Jad Freer Capo for years because it does something that's hard to describe until you hear it, it just makes your bass sound more like your bass. The new Sarto EQ pedal carries that same philosophy forward, with an incredibly musical EQ that enhances your tone rather than changing it. Every note feels bigger, clearer, and more alive. It's one of those pedals you turn on and never want to turn off."

Billy Mohler

"Surprising range of frequencies in a very small and portable package."

Panagiotis Andreou
