Born in the heart of NYC and raised on the road, the Tone Hammer Preamp DI has been an indispensable tool for bassists seeking inspiring tone and versatility. With its warm, rich, and dynamic sound, the Tone Hammer Preamp is an essential preamp/direct box for every bassist.

The Tone Hammer features fully sweepable midrange frequencies, in addition to bass and treble controls. With the Tone Hammer’s pristine D.I., players are set for either studio or stage.

Enhanced for even greater flexibility, the updated Drive circuit now provides an expanded range, allowing for increased gain and a dedicated control to finely tune your sound. You can go from modern slap sounds to vintage or overdriven, and everything in between.

18-volt operation gives the Tone Hammer plenty of headroom, and we’ve added a Headphone Out and Aux In, making it the perfect practice companion, whether on the road or at home.

Controls:

  • Gain: Controls input sensitivity level
  • Treble: +/- 18 dB @ 4 kHz

  • Drive: Adjusts an additional gain structure and EQ curve to enhance saturation while shaping the tone with a tube amp-inspired EQ.

DESCRIPTION (VERSION 1)

Based on the respected OBP-3 preamp, the Tone Hammer® features fully sweepable midrange frequencies in addition to bass and treble controls. With the Tone Hammer’s pristine D.I. you are set for the studio or the stage.

To give this tone shaping unit the ultimate flexibility Aguilar introduced their proprietary Adaptive Gain Shaping circuitry (AGS). AGS allows the player to kick in an additional gain structure and EQ with the “stomp” of a button. You can now go from modern slap sounds to vintage or overdriven. 18 volt operation gives the Tone Hammer® plenty of headroom to reproduce the most dynamic playing style. Separate GAIN and MASTER controls allow you to dial in just the right gain structure for any instrument.

The Tone Hammer® is the essential preamp/direct box for every bassist’s tool box.
