The Trickfish Bullhead 1.5K takes the acclaimed Bullhead platform and gives bass players substantially more power and control without turning the amp into something complicated. Delivering 1700 watts RMS at 4 ohms and 1060 watts RMS at 8 ohms, it has serious clean headroom for demanding stages and high-powered cabinet setups while weighing just 7.2 lbs. At its core is the same Mike Pope-designed Bullhead preamp that has made the series so popular with players who want their amplifier to clearly represent the sound of the instrument rather than impose a heavy sonic signature of its own.

The biggest step forward is how much control the 1.5K gives you around that core tone. Its 4-band EQ provides selectable frequency points specifically useful for bass, while independently switchable High Pass and Low Pass filters let you control the extreme lows and highs reaching your cabinets without disturbing the tone you've dialed in between them. WHY THE BULLHEAD 1.5K?

The Bullhead 1.5K bridges the gap between Trickfish's traditional Bullhead heads and the flagship Bullhead 3K. It combines the familiar Mike Pope-designed Bullhead preamp with a substantially more powerful 1700W RMS output stage and adds the variable High Pass and Low Pass filters developed for the 3K.

That combination makes the 1.5K particularly compelling for players who want more clean headroom and greater control over the frequency range reaching their cabinets, without needing the 3K's more advanced dual-power routing architecture.

HOW THE BULLHEAD 1.5K WORKS

Instrument Input, Attenuator & Gain:
Your bass enters through a standard 1/4" instrument input. A switchable 0dB/-10dB input attenuator allows the front end to accommodate instruments with different output levels, including higher-output active basses. From there, the Gain control lets you establish the appropriate input level before the signal reaches the EQ and filter sections.

4-Band EQ:
The Bullhead 1.5K uses a 4-band EQ with ±12dB of adjustment across Bass, Low Mid, High Mid, and Treble. Each band also provides two selectable frequency points, giving you considerably more control than a conventional fixed-frequency bass EQ while keeping the interface simple enough to adjust quickly on stage.

Bass Control:
The Bass control is a shelving EQ with selectable starting frequencies of 40Hz or 80Hz. The 40Hz setting reaches deeper into the low end, while the 80Hz setting moves the control higher into the bass range where you can make broader adjustments to weight and punch.

Low Mid Control:
The Low Mid section uses a bell-shaped EQ with selectable center frequencies of 330Hz or 473Hz. This range is particularly useful for shaping the body, warmth, definition, and lower-mid presence of a bass in a mix.

High Mid Control:
The High Mid section provides selectable center frequencies of 1kHz or 1.8kHz. These frequencies can be used to adjust articulation, presence, attack, and upper-mid character without relying on a broad treble adjustment.

Treble Control:
The Treble control is a shelving EQ with selectable starting frequencies of 4kHz or 8kHz. This lets you choose whether you want to work lower in the instrument's upper-frequency range or focus your adjustment farther into the top end.

High Pass Filter:
The independently switchable High Pass Filter uses a steep 24dB-per-octave slope and is variable from 38Hz to 310Hz. It removes frequencies below the selected point, making it especially useful for controlling unnecessary sub-bass energy, tightening the low end, or limiting how much very low-frequency content reaches your cabinets.

Low Pass Filter:
The independently switchable Low Pass Filter also uses a 24dB-per-octave slope and can be adjusted from 330Hz to 15kHz. It rolls off frequencies above the selected point, allowing you to control excessive high-frequency content, soften the top end, or deliberately narrow the overall bandwidth of the rig.

Using the HPF & LPF Together:
Used together, the two filters allow you to define the outer frequency boundaries of the amp while leaving the tone between those boundaries intact. Think of the 4-band EQ as shaping your sound and the HPF/LPF section as determining how much of the extreme low and high frequency range you want the system to reproduce.

Power Amplifier & Master Volume:
The Bullhead 1.5K uses a Pascal L-Pro2S power amplifier and delivers 1700W RMS at 4 ohms or 1060W RMS at 8 ohms at 1% THD. The Master Volume controls the overall amplifier output, while the front-panel Mute switch silences the amplifier signal when needed.

Routing & Connectivity:
The Bullhead 1.5K includes the connections needed to integrate into a professional bass rig:
