DESCRIPTION

The Trickfish Mike Pope Flexcore On-Board Preamp is one of Mike Pope's designs that has a way of making just about any bass you install it in sound its best. The reason why it sounds its best is because Mr. Pope has a great ear for bass, as he is a monster of a bass player himself.

This dual perspective as both player and designer gives him unique insight into what bass players actually need from their electronics, not just what looks good on paper.

First of all, it's a four-band EQ with multiple frequency options that gives you a lot of control over the mid section, which is critical for bass players. The coolest thing about this preamp is that each of the EQ bands and how many surrounding frequencies are affected by each frequency point is perfectly tailored to what bass players need, so this is one of those preamps where you can't make it sound bad.

The frequency selections aren't arbitrary, they're based on decades of experience in both live and studio situations. Each frequency band covers the essential ranges that bass players need to control that help you cut through a mix.

It's not intended to overpower or give you a particular personality, but rather it's intended to complement and highlight the features that you love the most about your bass, so it fits perfectly in the mix.

Additionally, it's pretty much plug-and-play, with almost no soldering needed, making installation straightforward even for players who aren't comfortable with extensive modifications. So if you're looking for a fast upgrade that delivers great-sounding results, give the Mike Pope Flexcore serious consideration.

Saved my bass

I absolutely adore my Sire P8, from the playability, to the tonal range. Unfortunately, the onboard preamp’s solderless connections were not secure, and some other internal components began giving out. I was so bummed because you can’t just buy replacement sire components and the system for this bass was very complex (Vol/tone stacked, blend, treb, mid/mid freq stacked, bass, active/passive switch). Thanks to FatBassTone I was able to find a one to one replacement that was relatively easy to install, with a QR code wiring diagram. I now have a flexcore preamp running to the original pickups. My bass retained its mojo and is fully reliable again! Thanks guys!

Third Flexcore for me, absolutely my favorite preamp, but I have to share this experience; this kit came with a volume/tone control that had a center detent. I emailed Fat Bass Tone to let them know about it and that I'll order a replacement eventually because it wasn't too big of a deal. Max informed me after sending in a picture of the pot that it was a manufacturing error and that particular pot belonged on an EQ board, which he IMMEDIATELY sent a replacement for, free of charge. I just installed it and it's working perfectly. THAT'S top notch service, and the main reason I continue to shop here.

Very nice preamp

The harnesses and pots are very high quality and sound is out of this world. It really brought this bass to life. Was so easy to install, may be my go to for future bass mods.
