This preamp has brought new life into my bass. I had previously installed the Sadowsky P/J pickups but IMO they were weak. This preamp helps me cut thru the mix and have my bass lines FELT as they should be

Made my bass a BEAST

I had a bass that I loved but was having output issues. Was able to choose from a wide variety of humbucker pickups and ordered a Darkglass tone capsule preamp pre-wired for the exact configuration I needed! (Volume with push-pull, Blend, L/M/H). Order shipped within 24 hours of submission, even with the requested wiring work! My bass is a monster now!

Fast shipping, product working as expected!

Heard about these guys from various Facebook Groups, and wish I'd heard of them sooner! I have an Ibanez SR5005 Prestige which is the wonderful full-on wenge-on-wenge-on-everything model with Bartolinis, which sounds amazing- except for that preamp! I looked at their options, and they had a Darkglass 3-band preamp, with availability for an A/P switch (which this bass sounds excellent in Passive mode). Recently got it back from my tech, and just wow- it's exactly what I'd hoped for! The Darkglass' Bass/Low Mids/High Mids pre works perfectly with this already woody, growly bass, and couldn't be happier. Will definitely use them again when needing to upgrade a preamp!

DESCRIPTION

The Tone Capsule is a new, unusual take on onboard preamplifiers. It’s designed to respect your instrument’s natural character while expanding exponentially the tonal possibilities.

The Tone Capsule is unique in the way that it doesn’t have a Treble control. The idea was Sheldon Dingwall’s: he thought that making a Bass-Mid-Treble was too normal for his liking because everyone does it that way, so he suggested including a second mid control instead. Darkglass loved the idea! Specially because the second control could be configured to operate at the higher end of the spectrum, offering all the benefits a standard Treble control (increased clarity and definition when boosting) but with a more natural, less-harsh and noiseless operation.

The Tone Capsule is available in the standard configuration sold by Darkglass as well as custom configurations that we have assembled for customer ease.

Our custom configurations can also be ordered as a prewired harness for easier installation.

Standard kit includes:

  • Tone Capsule Module
  • 3 EQ Pots and associated connector cables

Custom kits include:

  • Tone Capsule Module
  • Potentiometers and switches (if applicable)
  • Stereo Jack
  • 2 Battery Clips

Standard/Custom kits do not include:

  • Pickups
  • Knobs

We use black round bat switches in configurations where a switch is included

When pre-wired, the harness is wired for 9V operation

**Sorry international bassists, but US Dealers are not authorized to ship Darkglass preamps outside of the US.
