DESCRIPTION & TECH

The big poles grab all the strings movements with zero loss. Specially engineered magnets and custom wound coils make up for a bass transducer ready to redefine the word PRECISION.

Just imagine meaty P-Bass® tone with in-your-face Stingray® style grind and attack, and then you got at least the frame of the picture. Due to its tight broad frequency range, this is a GREAT pickup for nu-school funk and rock players, it loves drop tuned basses and massive tone tweaking.

Available with Black or White pickup covers.

Includes Pickup screw tubing and black screws.

Shielded 1-conductor cable

WHAT IS THE TONE OF THE DELANO PMVC4 FE/M2 BASS PICKUP?

A superb P Bass® pickup that is clear without sounding overly bright. The top ends presence will sound very pleasing to most bassists. There is a solid heft to this pickup, with a forward facing mid-range that doesn’t get too honky. The low end is strong & clear, but not overly warm or too fat. The PMVC4 FE/M2 has been in the top 2 of our best selling P Bass® pickups for several years.

Put on a good set of headphones and check out the audio demo below to hear it for yourself.

As always, keep in mind that these are generalizations. Your experience could be different depending on many factors.

Great tone, especially on a short scale

I love short scales, but anyone who's played them knows that there's a tradeoff for the weight and comfortable scale: harmonics. Short scales have a great fundamental thump to them, but they don't cut through a dense mix as much because they lack some of the high end harmonics that a regular scale would have.

Case in point, my Mustang PJ bass wasn't cutting through the way I wanted. So I did some research and found reviews that said these Delano pickups enhanced the high end quite a bit. And those reviews were right!

Obviously my Mustang still sounds different that a regular P bass would with these pickups, but it now has enough of that high end snarl to come through the mix, both live and recorded. I'm super pleased!

My only complaint about the pickups, and it's small, is that they didn't just go with a standard radius for the dogear screw mounts. Instead, they're pointier. This means that when I tightened the pickups down as far as I needed to, they top of the dogear started to split on one side of each pickup. I was worried about it at first, but the split has not expanded in the couple of weeks I've had this, and the mounting holes go the full depth of the pickup, so I don't think they're actually going to break. Still, it was startling to see that happen.

I won't take stars off for that though. It's about the tone (and to a lesser extent, the look, and those huge pole pieces look sick), so full 5/5 stars from me.

Fat Bass Tone was also great to work with. Good packaging, quick shipping, and great information on the site!

Delano PMVC4 FE/M2 4 String Precision Bass® Pickup

I can’t believe I waited so long to pull the trigger on these pickups. A perfect match for any P bass if you’re looking for a slightly more modern tone with plenty of thump and LOUD!

Passive Delano P pup

Exactly as Max & Brian opined: extra clean in a non sterile sort of way, the perfect pairing with my Tech21 OD pedals, creating a very articulate yet crushing tone...my nirvana :-)

All the things

Bought these pickups to swap into a Player 2 P bass. These are absolutely brilliant pickups. The sound on these has transformed this bass into a cannon. The highs are lovely, the lows are full and boomy and i’ll probably be getting another set of these for a jazz bass. As other folks have said in the reviews, these things are fantastic Delano pickups are fantastic. If you are looking to upgrade a midline bass, these are a FANTASTIC replacement.

Delano PMVC4 FE/M2 4 review

Once again, I'm surprised by the quality and sound of Delano pickups.

Being a lifelong Bartolini user, I'm now a full convert and plan on replacing all of them. The PMVC4 FE/M2's have their own voice, and the clarity and response is downright unnerving. They sound like a Stingray / Music Man if that's possible. If BMW made pickups, these would be it.
I paired my install with a wiring harness from Fat Bass tone and it's perfect.
