DESCRIPTION

The EMG BQC onboard preamp is one of the most deceptively flexible preamps available, even though it only has three bands. Where it excels is that it has a variable mid frequency selector, which is what really makes this preamp go above and beyond typical three-band designs. So you can pretty much choose whichever frequency works the best for you, for your specific bass and setup.

The best part of the variable mid frequency selector is that it helps you use your ears instead of going with some preset frequency range that you think you may need. You just sweep the mid frequency control until it sounds good for your specific application or setup, and it works great. This interactive approach to EQ means you're not limited to fixed frequency centers that might not work perfectly with your particular instrument or playing style.

The variable mid frequency covers the most critical range for bass guitar, allowing you to dial in everything from deep, fundamental warmth to cutting presence that helps you slice through dense mixes. This is particularly valuable in live situations where room acoustics and stage volume can dramatically affect how your bass sits in the overall mix.

It's quiet, easy to install, and works perfectly, particularly with high-output pickups such as the EMG line. The active circuitry provides plenty of headroom and maintains signal integrity even with aggressive EQ settings. The low-noise design ensures that your signal stays clean, whether you're recording in the studio or performing live.

So if you're looking for something that gives you complete control over the mids, because you can literally pick the specific frequency to boost or cut, then give the EMG BQC onboard preamp serious consideration. It represents decades of experience in active bass electronics distilled into a versatile, professional-grade preamp system.

Description from EMG:

Active Balance, Master Volume and EQ circuits are included. The EQs allow you separate control over bass, midrange, and treble all via 2 concentric/stacked pots. Rotate the control clockwise to boost, counterclockwise to cut. There is a center detent for flat response. The mid-range control has a variable frequency knob that allows you to sweep through the mid-frequency range from 100Hz to 1KHz. This selects the frequency to boost or cut.

OPEN BOX ITEM: There is one unit which was opened exclusively for the purpose of taking product photos. This preamp was not installed. This is not a “Returned Preamp”.

All knobs included.
