DESCRIPTION

If you’re looking for a slightly brighter take on the iconic early ‘60s jazz bass tone, look no further. You’ll find the Heavy Weather Jazz Bass Pickup Set delivers all of the distinctive vintage grit and growl you’d expect with the addition of expressive harmonics that will have your notes ringing clear as a bell.

The vintage-hot wound Alnico 5 pickups are voiced to provide a punchy and fluid responsiveness and treated to breathe in a way that delivers enhanced harmonic clarity. Heavy Weather pickups will perform equally well in fretted and fretless basses.

WHAT IS THE TONE OF THE SEYMOUR DUNCAN HEAVY WEATHER JAZZ BASS® PICKUP SET?

These pickups have a great bounce and feel to them. Top end is a little softer than a 70’s wind. The low end is backed off just a touch from a 60’s wind, which likely gives it the bouncy feel.

Put on a good set of headphones and check out the audio demo below to hear it for yourself.

As always, keep in mind that these are generalizations. Your experience could be different depending on many factors.

Wow! Great Pickups!

I've had these in my G&L Fullerton Deluxe JB for a few days now and really run them through the gauntlet of the songs I play with people, (mostly classic rock stuff), and these pickups are killer! It seems that they are a bit hotter than most replacement jazz pickups that I've heard but they aren't too middy as a lot of them are. They are full in the low end and really articulate in the high end. They fit perfectly, and they're versatile, as well. With just adjusting the tone knob and slightly backing off one pickup or another you can get a variety of great and useful tones. I'm easily heard in a guitar/bass/drums/singer lineup, and the rest of the guys really like the sound of the bass after the switch. The Fat Bass Tone guys are very friendly and helpful, too. Shout out to Max! Give these a try, I think you'll like them. A lot.
