If you are a fan of P-bass tone but need a little more push, the Hot P-Bass pickup gives you the tonal and output burst you need. Built similarly to Seymour Duncan’s Vintage model, the Hot for P-Bass uses a custom high output coil winding for increased low-end response and a fuller sound. What exactly does that mean? Basically your P-Bass just got a whole lot better. Its aggressive attack makes it a great pickup for heavier musical styles. This pickup is a drop-in replacement for any American Standard Precision Bass.
Hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, the Hot for P-Bass uses hand ground alnico 5 rod magnets, forbon flatwork, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal free operation. Comes with black cover.
Size:
2.23” [56.64mm] Long
1.07” [27.18mm] Wide

Direct low end that doesn’t get flabby. Comparing with Aguilar’s 4P-Hot (another ‘hot’ pickup), the low end of the SPB-2 is tighter and not as wide…it is more direct. The lower mid range is present in a pleasing way…slightly dark but the overall EQ is not scooped, and the upper mids are present without being honky. When comparing to Duncan’s SPB-3, we hear the slight darkness in the lower mids of the SPB-2, as well as a less pronounced upper mid range and top end. Overall, the SPB-2 has a slightly narrow sonic range…don’t take ‘narrow’ to mean something negative, it can help you get a punchy bass sound.
Put on a good set of headphones and check out the audio demo below to hear it for yourself.
As always, keep in mind that these are generalizations. Your experience could be different depending on many factors.
