DESCRIPTION

The Lollar 4-String Jazz Bass pickup is the brand's masterclass take on the quintessential early 60s J-Bass tone. But true to Jason Lollar's design philosophy, it comes with a distinct, highly musical twist. If you are chasing that golden-era vintage sound but need an instrument that performs flawlessly in modern musical environments, this is exactly where you want to look.

Lollar doesn't just clone old pickups; they refine them, ensuring that your bass is going to sound phenomenal regardless of the gig or the genre you put it in.

At its core, this set delivers a punchy rendition of the classic vintage formula. What immediately stands out is just how remarkably well-balanced these pickups are across the entire frequency spectrum. One of the most common issues you can find with vintage-voiced Jazz Bass pickups is that their midrange is far too scooped. While that scooped tone sounds great when you are practicing alone in your bedroom, the moment you step on stage, you tend to completely disappear in a live mix. That is absolutely not the case with these guys.

Lollar has carefully engineered this set to retain that beautiful, glassy top-end and warm, supportive low-end of a 60s J-Bass, but with a slightly fuller, more present midrange character. This subtle shift means your bass lines hold their ground, providing the precise definition you need to confidently cut through. Whether you are laying down heavy fingerstyle grooves, digging in with a pick, or utilizing slap techniques, the dynamic response is incredibly natural and organic.

Lollar has a well-earned reputation for crafting reliable, high-quality tools that genuinely work for the working musician, and this Jazz Bass pickup set is no exception to that rule. Hand-built in the USA with premium components, including custom Alnico 5 magnets and their signature scatter-wound coils, they deliver the exacting consistency that touring and session players demand night after night.

If you have been searching endlessly for a vintage-voiced J-Bass pickup, but constantly feel like it needs that little extra something to make it truly usable on a gig, this is the pickup for you. It honors the past while vastly improving the practical application for today's modern players. Also, if you want to dive deeper into the brand's history and discover exactly what makes their winding process so special, check out the article we wrote about them right here.
