10 Stars for Nordstrand NP4V 4 String Vintage Precision Bass® Pickup

I just got this modded Player P Bass back from my bass tech, luthier, guru guy, and we were both blown away by the sound of this bass. In addition to this pickup I also added the Nordstrand Tone Drop. I'm not sure what added the most, but this combination produces The Best P Bass Sound that I've ever heard from a bass. I've had lots of them over the years, fretted, fretless, 4 strings, 5 strings, American, Japanese and Mexican and this is by far the best sounding of all. This is a true Keeper, and has the sound that I've been dreaming about. My tech rarely compliments the sound. He seems more into the feel and playability of the bass, but each mod that we've done, using Nordstrand electronics, has brought rave reviews and praise on the tone. I'm now content, having Nord equipped P and Jazz basses. There's no need to look any further.

1975 Fender PRECISION BASS

Took a while to get around to ordering these Pickups,Thank God I did. I also changed my pots. Playing through an Ampeg 8x10 with a 4Pro head. My amp was nice but with these Pickups it sounds KILLER!! Saving some cash so I can buy Pickups for my Jazz Bass,also a 1975 Fender. You guys are awesome Thanks so very very much CHAS.

DESCRIPTION

This is a vintage correct version of Nordstrand's classic P4 design. With a lower magnet load for a softer, warmer, and smoother output, the player that commandeers these percussive portals to the past should expect a tone that is reminiscent of the 50s P vibe.

Built with Alnico V magnets, these pickups provide a slightly larger punch and pop integral for any player looking to project a more aggressive modern tone. In short, these pickups use vintage specs to acquire nostalgic old school tones.


TECHNICAL

  • Hum-canceling split coil 4 string precision-type bass pickups.
  • Smaller magnet load than Nordstrand's standard NP4 or NP4A.
  • Alnico V magnets
  • 19mm string spacing standard.
  • Available in black plastic covers.
  • Drop-in replacement P-bass pickup.
  • Laser cut bobbins.
  • Wax-potted to contain any unruly frequency that may attempt to desecrate your desired tone.

WHAT IS THE TONE OF THE NORDSTRAND NP4V PRECISION BASS® PICKUP?

The NP4V is one of our favorites in the vintage-voiced pickup category. It has a little more mid range content than other similar pickups. The top has a nice crunch without being too bright, in fact, it is just a touch rolled-off. A nice warm balanced tone all around.
