DESCRIPTION

The Trickfish Internal Pre Amp (IPA) is a high performance, low noise internal bass preamp system built upon two ideas – superior tonal flexibility and effortless installation. Sharing many of the sonic signatures found in the Flexcore line of preamps, the IPA delivers the same musical and transparent character as its older sibling. The shelving bass and treble controls and selectable frequency points for bass, midrange, and treble offer the ultimate in tone shaping capabilities.

Trickfish's simple plug connections allow for the addition of 2 or 3 bands of active EQ to your instrument without the need to solder. All EQ pots, toggle switches, and the output jack are prewired for an easy installation and the solderless screw terminals make input connections painless. The IPA’s small size (1.9” x 1.2”) circuit board is preinstalled with Velcro and was designed to fit virtually any bass.

An optional prewired Mid-Frequency Switch is available to add on to your chosen preamp configuration.

The IPA and IPA-S preamps are available in the standard configuration sold by Trickfish as well as custom configurations that we have assembled for customer ease.

Our custom configurations can also be ordered as a prewired harness for easier installation.

TECH & SPECS

The IPA requires soldering of a passive section, i.e., volume, blend, tone, etc. The preamp module itself is solderless.

Bartolini 9J1 set/Trickfish IPA

Recently, I decided to overhaul an early 2000's Tobias Toby Deluxe. When I heard the original pickups (active only), they were way too bright, and the tone controls could not tame it. With the Bartolini pickups and the Trickfish preamp with the custom wiring, I can really dial in a killer tone with significantly more output than the original. Hats off to you guys, and I look forward to doing business again!

This preamp is very versatile and easy to install. Nice frequency options to brighten or darken the tone to bring out the best of your pickups.

Great sounding preamp with slim to no noise

Love the mid frequencies, very differently chosen than what I had before, but they work great.
Be wary tho the cable colors on the output to the jack are non standard with white being ground and black being hot. That gave me some headache wiring up a barrel jack.
