The Trickfish Internal Pre Amp (IPA) is a high performance, low noise internal bass preamp system built upon two ideas â superior tonal flexibility and effortless installation. Sharing many of the sonic signatures found in the Flexcore line of preamps, the IPA delivers the same musical and transparent character as its older sibling. The shelving bass and treble controls and selectable frequency points for bass, midrange, and treble offer the ultimate in tone shaping capabilities.
Trickfish's simple plug connections allow for the addition of 2 or 3 bands of active EQ to your instrument without the need to solder. All EQ pots, toggle switches, and the output jack are prewired for an easy installation and the solderless screw terminals make input connections painless. The IPAâs small size (1.9â x 1.2â) circuit board is preinstalled with Velcro and was designed to fit virtually any bass.
An optional prewired Mid-Frequency Switch is available to add on to your chosen preamp configuration.
The IPA and IPA-S preamps are available in the standard configuration sold by Trickfish as well as custom configurations that we have assembled for customer ease.
Our custom configurations can also be ordered as a prewired harness for easier installation.

Looking for a 2 band version of the Trickfish IPA? While Trickfish sells the IPA including all 3 EQ band potential, the preamp is modular, and a 2 band can be achieved by simply not connecting the undesired âbandâ. No need to have an unused potentiometer floating in your electronics cavity.
The IPA requires soldering of a passive section, i.e., volume, blend, tone, etc. The preamp module itself is solderless.
The IPA can run in 9 or 18 volts.
