The Bartolini M452J brings the flexibility of two hum-cancelling Jazz-style pickups into a single 5-string M4 soapbar housing. Part of Bartolini's 2J Squared series, this quad-coil design delivers everything from big, growling series humbucker tones to focused parallel response and clear, articulate split-coil sounds. It's an excellent option for players who want more tonal versatility without changing their bass's existing soapbar pickup format.
Inside each M452J are two inline hum-cancelling coil pairs that can be wired in series, parallel or selected individually. Unlike splitting a conventional humbucker, each configuration remains hum-cancelling. The four-conductor shielded cable supports these wiring options, and an optional switching arrangement makes it easy to access multiple voices.
The M452J is available in individually voiced neck (M452J-B) and bridge (M452J-T) versions. Both share the same M4 housing and are designed to complement each other when blended or played separately. Select the position you need, or add one of each for a complete pickup pair. Each pickup is sold individually.

The 2J Squared design supports multiple wiring arrangements. A suitable toggle switch can provide convenient access to the different voices.
The M452J offers three distinct tonal approaches. Series wiring produces a big, growling voice with strong output. Parallel wiring delivers a fat, round sound with greater focus, while selecting an individual hum-cancelling inline coil pair produces a clear, precise Jazz-style response.
Neck — M452J-B: Approximately 6.7 kΩ DC resistance per inline coil pair, with a resonant frequency of approximately 6.3 kHz.
Bridge — M452J-T: Approximately 7.4 kΩ DC resistance per inline coil pair, with a resonant frequency of approximately 6.4 kHz.
Sensing width: 60–76mm (2.36"–2.99"). The blade-style sensing design accommodates a range of string spacings. Measure your string spread at each pickup location to confirm compatibility.
