Bartolini M56CBC 6 String Classic Bass (EMG® 45 Shape) Pickups

The versatile voice of the "Classic Bass Series" pickup in a popular 6 string soapbar shape.  A common passive upgrade for active basses.

**FYI - These pickups are packaged only as single pickups by Bartolini. So, if you want to order a SET, you will need to add BOTH the neck and bridge pickups to your cart.

  • Classic Bass soapbars make you sound better, so you play better. They have a rich, deep voice with lots of high-end clarity and warmth. When you dig in, they are responsive and growly. When you pull back, they are clear and sweet. And they’ll take any slapping and popping you want to give them. The Classic Bass series is popular with progressive, jazz, gospel, and metal musicians where articulation is critical. Without sacrificing low-end, Classic Bass pickups are sweat-proof and won’t crackle and thud when you touch them or hit them with the strings.

If you play a wide variety of music, you know you need some pro-level pickups, but you don’t want to do a big upgrade project, Classic Bass pickups are a great choice. They are passive and will work with your current electronics in most basses.

There are different versions for neck (Bass, -B) and bridge (Treble, -T) so they balance well in your bass.

  • Below are some general impressions and anecdotal thoughts gathered over the years about Bartolini's Classic Bass Series. Some are our own and some are from customers.
    • Most players will hear these pickups as giving their bass a fuller tone, typically a very significant improvement over stock pickups.
    • More open top end, without sacrificing the lows and low mid warmth that Bartolini’s are known for.
    • Often sited as one of the best values in a Jazz Bass® replacement pickup
    • Bartolini’s corners are nice and rounded over, so if you play with your thumb hooked on the top corner, these will probably feel a bit better than a traditional pickup shell (referring mostly to Jazz® and Precision® Basses.
    • Commonly characterized as Bartolini’s best ‘balanced’ winding style
