DESCRIPTION

The Bartolini P25CBC is part of Bartolini's Classic range of pickups. Essentially, the Classic range is the original Bartolini voice with additional high-end extension. So with this pickup, you get the famous Bartolini growl and the rich low-mids that work extremely well in any mix, but with the addition of an extended high-frequency response and snap that some players find they really need to retain detail in their tone.

Bill Bartolini pioneered boutique pickup design in the 70s, establishing the foundation for what we now consider professional-grade bass electronics. The P25CBC continues this legacy, representing decades of refinement and real-world testing in professional applications.

The sonic character features that signature Bartolini balance—full low end without muddiness, present mids that help you sit in a mix, and smooth highs that provide clarity without harshness. The extended high-frequency response in the Classic series adds extra snap and articulation, making these pickups particularly effective for modern playing styles that demand clarity and definition.

These are great all-around pickups that work wonderfully in any mix and are made to the highest standard that Bartolini has been known for since the 70s. This is the reason why you'll find tons of Bartolini pickups in boutique basses from the past five decades—they simply deliver consistent, professional results.

The P25CBC is specifically designed for 5-string basses, with careful attention paid to maintaining even response across all five strings, including the low B. This is crucial for 5-string players who need their extended range to translate clearly in both live and studio situations.

These are a great option if you want a pickup that works great in any mix, has a wide frequency range, and also pairs up incredibly well with an active onboard preamp to give you that extra bit of flexibility.

The construction quality reflects Bartolini's commitment to professional-grade components. Each pickup is hand-wound to exact specifications, ensuring consistency and reliability that touring musicians demand. The materials are selected for their sonic properties and long-term reliability.

Whether you're playing jazz, rock, funk, or any style that demands musical bass tone, the Bartolini P25CBC delivers the professional sound quality that has made these pickups a favorite among boutique bass builders and discerning players worldwide.

From Bartolini:

Classic Bass soapbars make you sound better, so you play better. They have a rich, deep voice with lots of high-end clarity and warmth. When you dig in, they are responsive and growly. When you pull back, they are clear and sweet. And they’ll take any slapping and popping you want to give them. The Classic Bass series is popular with progressive, jazz, gospel, and metal musicians where articulation is critical. Without sacrificing low-end, Classic Bass pickups are sweat-proof and won’t crackle and thud when you touch them or hit them with the strings.

If you play a wide variety of music, you know you need some pro-level pickups, but you don’t want to do a big upgrade project, Classic Bass pickups are a great choice. They are passive and will work with your current electronics in most basses.

There are different versions for neck (Bass, -B) and bridge (Treble, -T) so they balance well in your bass.

WHAT IS THE TONE OF THE BARTOLINI CLASSIC BASS SOAPBAR PICKUPS?

Bartolini fans know Bartolinis for their tight sound and strong low mid range. These pickups are no exception. The Classic Bass Series from Bartolini has a nice even balance. These pickups have more open highs than traditional (Original Series) Bartolinis. The low end is not sacrificed at all and sounds deep while retaining tightness.

Put on a good set of headphones and check out the audio demo below to hear it for yourself.

As always, keep in mind that these are generalizations. Your experience could be different depending on many factors.

Bartolini P25CBC

Purchased the Bartolini P25CBC pickups to replace the stock pickups in my Yamaha TRBX605. The pickups were a drop-in replacement with no modifications required to the pickup cavities.

They pair well with the preamp I’d previously installed (Bartolini HR-5.4AP/918 Pre-wired Harness - 5-knob 3-band EQ with Bypass).

Overall tone is clearer to my ears, particularly on the low B-string.

Fat Bass Tone service was prompted and the order delivered in just a few days. Thanks!

Bartolini P25CBC 5 String

This is an excellent pickup! I replaced the pups on my Yamaha TRBX505. I soon as I installed the Bartolinis, the sound improved significantly. The bass is now less compressed and open. I recommend it to everyone. Furthermore, the customer service of Fat Bass Tone is second to none!

Great pickups!

I purchased a set of these to replace a pair of Aguilar DCB. I really liked the DCB, but the bridge pickup was glitching. My bridge spacing is 16.7 mm. It is adjustable, but I like it narrow.. And since most typical pickups have pole pieces spaced at 18-19 mm, I had to stay within a few choices or pay up for custom spacing. I had good experience with Bartolini many years ago when I built a Warmoth Gecko 5, so that nudged me towards choosing the P25CBC. They have a similar tonality to the DCB, but are clearer. They have more presence. There is also a touch more response in lows and low mids. Brian Ristola was extremely patient and helpful, as I had several questions trying to decide between these and the Nordstrand Zen Blades. The video demos are helpful, but at some point you just have to take a chance. I highly recommend these pickups.
