D'Addario NYXL Bass Strings are built for players who want powerful low end, focused punch, and a clear, dynamic response. Featuring D'Addario's high-carbon NY Steel core and reformulated nickel-plated steel wrap wire, these premium uncoated roundwound strings deliver accentuated harmonics, excellent tuning stability, and a versatile feel that works across a wide range of playing styles.
Whether you play a traditional 4-string, a low-B 5-string, or an extended-range 6-string, there's an NYXL set to match your instrument and preferred string tension. Choose from lighter, more flexible gauges to heavier sets, with Long Scale, Super Long Scale, and Multiscale options available. Use the comparison table below to find the correct gauge and scale length for your bass.
Important: Select the correct scale length and gauge set before ordering. String winding length and bridge design affect compatibility, especially on through-body and multiscale basses. Opened string sets cannot be returned.
Compare all 11 available sets below. Individual string gauges are listed from the highest-pitched string to the lowest, in thousandths of an inch.

Construction: NY Steel hex core with reformulated nickel-plated steel wrap wire.
String Type: Uncoated roundwound electric bass strings.
Available Configurations: 4-string, 5-string, and 6-string sets.
Scale Options: Long Scale, Super Long Scale, and Multiscale, depending on the selected SKU.
Choosing the Right Scale: Scale length refers to your bass's vibrating string length, but the distance from the ball end to the start of the silk or taper is also important. Check your bass's bridge design, string-through-body routing, and required winding length before selecting a set.
Important: Multiscale sets are designed for instruments with differing scale lengths across the strings. Do not assume a conventional Long Scale set will fit a multiscale bass, or that a Super Long Scale set is necessary solely because your bass has a 35-inch scale.
