The Darkglass Microtubes Infinity takes several of the company's most useful bass tools and puts them into one programmable pedal: Microtubes distortion, multiband processing, compression, a 6-band graphic EQ, IR cabinet simulation, DI, tuner and USB audio interface. For a player trying to build a compact rig around one serious piece of gear, this can handle a remarkable amount of the signal chain by itself.
The real advantage is how much control is available without giving up quick access on stage. Five preamp/distortion modes cover clean tube-style processing, Vintage Microtubes and B3K sounds in standard and multiband configurations. Three presets are immediately available from the footswitches, while MIDI or the Darkglass Suite expands access to three additional presets and deeper parameters.
1. Clean Tube Preamp: Clean multiband tube preamp processing.
2. Vintage Microtubes: The classic Vintage Microtubes drive mode.
3. Microtubes B3K: Darkglass's B3K distortion mode.
4. Vintage Microtubes Multi-Band: Multiband version of the Vintage Microtubes mode.
5. Microtubes B3K Multi-Band: Multiband version of the B3K mode.
Additional controls including GRUNT, MIDBOOST and high-pass / low-pass filtering are accessible through the Darkglass Suite.
Compression: One-knob compressor control with intelligent makeup gain.
Compressor Ratios: 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, 20:1 and ALL IN.
Graphic EQ: Six touch-sensitive EQ sliders with ±12dB range.
Standard EQ Bands: Low Shelf, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1.5kHz, 3kHz and High Shelf.
Alternate EQ Bands via Darkglass Suite: 100Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 800Hz, 1.6kHz and 3.2kHz.
Cabinet Simulation: Impulse Response (IR) cabinet simulation.
IR Slots: 5 onboard cabinet slots.
Presets: Three presets directly accessible from the A, B and C footswitches.
Additional Presets: Three additional presets accessible through MIDI or the Darkglass Suite.
Darkglass Suite: Preset management, deeper control, IR loading, firmware updates and access to the Darkglass IR library.
The Microtubes Infinity can also function as the center of a live, practice or recording rig. The XLR direct output provides a connection to a mixer or audio interface, while two balanced 1/4" outputs can feed monitors, an amplifier or additional effects.
USB-C turns the Infinity into an audio interface capable of recording both processed and unprocessed instrument signals. A stereo Aux input and Bluetooth audio can be used for media playback, while the dedicated headphone output supports headphones from 16–600 ohms.
A built-in five-octave chromatic tuner covers A0 through A#5, and Performance Lock can prevent accidental parameter changes after your sound is dialed in.
