The DiMarzio Sixties P™ captures the distinctive tone and growl of a classic 1960s Precision Bass while adding a number of modern refinements. Built around DiMarzio's sculpted Relentless™-style metal covers, the Sixties P uses vintage-style enamel-coated wire and flush-mounted, fully charged Alnico 5 rod magnets to deliver the rich, punchy character associated with old-school P Bass tones.
The thin metal covers feature a compound radius designed to follow the arch of the fingerboard. This allows the pickups to sit closer to the strings for improved dynamics and response. Added shielding makes the Sixties P approximately 3 dB quieter than a stock Precision Bass pickup, while full potting helps reduce microphonics and keeps the pickup virtually noise free.
DiMarzio's circuit-board mounting system positions the height-adjustment screws below the pickguard, while the rounded cover edges provide a smooth playing surface. The installation kit also includes Billy Sheehan's isolation-mount tubing for pickup installation and height adjustment.
The Sixties P™ is a direct replacement for American Standard Precision Bass pickups and is handmade in New York City.
