DESCRIPTION

Wal and Alembic basses are universally regarded as some of the most beautifully constructed, highly sought-after instruments on the planet. Since they first arrived on the boutique market decades ago, both of these legendary builders have maintained a strict, no-compromise approach to their craft. Beyond their flawless construction, the feature that gives them their incredibly distinct, tonal character, is their proprietary electronics. Unlike standard equalizers, both of these legendary builders utilize a unique, filter-based preamp architecture.

A filter preamp operates very differently than a traditional cut-and-boost EQ circuit. Instead of broadly adjusting fixed frequency bands, a resonant filter allows you to precisely sweep and pinpoint the exact midrange frequencies you want to emphasize. Because the bass guitar is fundamentally a midrange-driven instrument, this topology allows you to bring out the absolute best, most articulate parts of your instrument's natural voice.

Historically, the major problem for working musicians was the massive barrier to entry. To get that iconic, filter tone, you typically had to spend well into the five-figure range to purchase a Wal or Alembic, or modify your current bass by installing an onboard filter preamp. The Lusithand F1 Studio Filter pedal completely eliminates that problem. This ingenious, highly compact pedal houses both of these legendary filter circuit designs inside a single, road-ready enclosure, and allows you to blend seamlessly between them.

You can zero in on the frequencies you want to bring up on each side of the pedal, and blend the two voicings to perfectly complement your specific bass. You can surgically pinpoint exactly where your bass needs to sit, making a massive difference in your overall clarity and punch.

If you have been desperately chasing that legendary, articulate filter-bass tone but refuse to modify your favorite instrument, the Lusithand F1 Studio is the ultimate solution. Drop it onto your pedalboard, step on the switch, and instantly command your sonic space in the mix.

From Lusithand

The F1 uses the same filter typology that Lusithand uses on their NFP filter preamps.

The F1 consists of two separate filters; on one side the filter can sweep between 50Hz and 6Khz and you can select between Low-Pass and Hi-Pass. The second filter sweeps between 120Hz and 4kHz and you can select between Low-Pass and Band-Pass.

On both you can increase, or decrease, its resonance via the RES controls (one for each Filter) and make it sound fairly flat or boosted by increasing amounts.

A PAN (blend) control allows one to blend both signals and it is followed by a Master Volume.

The filter's range, together with the ability to select the filter type, makes the F1 very useful, both as an effect or as an utility tool whether you are in the studio, or performing live, both with bass and guitar.

FEATURES

High Headroom: A voltage doubler (internal circuit) doubles the voltage being fed. This makes it possible to have 36v of internal running operation when powering from an 18v supply. The higher voltage operation significantly increases the headroom and prevents unwanted clipping/distortion, caused by hotter signals.
**This pedal can be run from 9v to max of 18v.

PAN: Blend between both filters.

VOL: Master volume for the active signal.

LO-P and HI-P switch: select between Low Pass or High Pass for the left filter.

  • Filter Sweep (left): sweep from 50Hz to 6kHz.
  • RES (left): Increase or decrease the Resonance for this filter.

LO-P and BD-P switch: select between Low Pass or Band Pass for the right filter.

  • Filter Sweep (right): sweep from 120Hz to 4kHz.
  • RES (right): Increase or decrease the Resonance for this filter.

I tried a few other similar pedals, but couldn't find the flexibility and tone I was after, until I purchased this. Wow! First class service from FBT.
