DESCRIPTION

The Seymour Duncan SMB-4D is Duncan's punchy, aggressive ceramic replacement pickup for 4-string Music Man® StingRay® basses. Designed around the sound and response associated with 90s-era Music Man basses, it delivers immediate attack, excellent clarity and a tight, articulate tone backed by the solid low end that made the StingRay sound famous.

The SMB-4D uses two large ceramic bar magnets and a custom coil wind. Compared with Duncan's warmer, vintage-oriented SMB-4A Alnico 5 model, the SMB-4D is the choice for players looking for the faster response, clarity and power of Duncan's 90s-inspired ceramic design. Heavy rock and thumb-funk players in particular will appreciate the immediate attack and strong note definition.

Built in Santa Barbara, California, the SMB-4D uses Forbon flatwork, shielded 4-conductor lead wire and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free operation. Its 4-conductor wiring also provides flexibility for different wiring configurations.

This pickup is a drop-in replacement for 4-string Music Man® StingRay® basses. It may fit into OLP instruments as well, but check the dimensions of the pickup against the size of your OLP pickup route to be sure.

NOTE: Not for use with Music Man® basses that have a 3-way blade switch.
