Wayne Jones might be more widely recognized for his powerful bass amplifiers and high-end studio monitors, but his custom onboard preamps are built to that exact same standard of audio excellence. The Australian engineer has a well-earned reputation for creating highly regarded audio equipment, and he has implemented the lessons he has learned over the past several decades into the Wayne Jones 3-Band Bass Preamp.
The key characteristic that makes this specific preamp stand out is precisely how good it sounds the second it is activated. Some onboard preamps impose their own character onto your instrument. The Wayne Jones circuit takes a different approach. Rather than changing your core sound, it brings out more of your bass's voice.
The three-band equalization section is intuitive and highly musical. It features carefully selected frequency EQ points that allow you to fine-tune your exact placement within a live mix. The ability to select your center frequencies means you are never stuck fighting a frequency band that doesn't flatter your bass. Whether you need to push the low-mids to support a rock track, carve out the center frequencies for a modern slap tone, or add a glassy sheen to your top end, this preamp gives you the flexibility you need.
This preamp is the perfect choice for the bassist looking for an onboard circuit that brings out much more of what they already love about their core tone, while providing the flexibility to shape it for different musical scenarios.
If you want an onboard preamp that will refine your favorite bass without masking its natural character, take a look at the Wayne Jones 3-Band Preamp.
