Solderless Connections on Prewired Harnesses

As of June 2025, we have migrated to solderless connections on many of our prewired harnesses.

We are very excited to bring this to players and techs!

The following prewired harnesses are now wired with solderless connections:

Why the change to solderless installation?

We made this decision in an effort to help players and techs install harnesses without the need to solder.  Installation should go much quicker and smoother for anyone who is installing one of these units.   We use solderless connections in the harnesses of our basses used in our pickup demo videos to aid us in quick pickup changes.

Many players will now be able to do an installation themselves, saving the hassle, trip and cost of guitar tech installation fees.  For those who do choose to have installation done by a tech, the solderless harnesses should be much faster for them to install as well.  We believe our solderless harness kits are more intuitive than even the well-known EMG solderless kits.

The solderless connection busses that we are using in these harnesses are secured using a small screwdriver.  The screwdriver is included with the pre-wired kit.

Pickup Connections - Simply connect your hot and ground wires to the solderless buss.

Battery Connections - Preamps that allow for both a 9Volt or 18Volt installation also include the necessary connections for both 9V and 18V.

Ground Connections - A solderless connection buss is also included for various grounds coming from the instrument that come are used for auxiliary grounding, such as bridge, cavity, and shielding.

Output Jack - A standard mount jack is being utilized in our pre-wired harnesses. If you are using a long threaded barrel jack (common on Ibanez, and some others), you can clip the wires away from the jack so that there is enough wiring to strip the end  and secure the wire ends in the solderless connector.  Alternatively, you can purchase a pre-wired long threaded barrel jack here.  Our solderless system allows for simple removal of the included standard jack by un-securing the wires with the small included screwdriver.

Prices have increased a modest amount to facilitate the use of solderless connection busses as both our labor and material costs are higher as well.  We believe the savings (both in money and frustration) are huge compared to the slight increase in price.

What is now solderless?

Basically everything:

  • Pickup Connections
  • Ground Connections
  • Signal Connection
  • Battery Connections

It is our belief that this change will be appreciated by all involved with the installation of a new preamp or passive harness.

If you happen to want the old version that requires soldered connections, drop us a line, and we can make that happen.
