Nice!!

A lot smaller and less cumbersome than other preamps, but offers a nice control of tone.

Purchased 3 Aggie pre amps

I’m 💯 satisfied with 1st pre amp Aguilar OBP 2 that I purchased. This is follow up review cause I called Max last year about why my new OBP2 don’t have same thump as the 1st one I purchased . He told me the pre amp will not sound same in different bass . Now I gotta figure out what to do cause I ain’t buying another pre amp after getting 3 already I won’t waste another dollar .. plus having luthier to pay 💰 im out

Great Bass Upgrade

I sought a preamp replacement for my Warwick Rockbass Streamer Standard, and the Aguilar OBP-3 proved to be an excellent choice. While I genuinely liked the guitar, it suffered from excessive noise at certain settings and had a lower output level than desired.

The OBP-3 preamp effectively addressed these issues and brought additional features to the table, such as active/passive switching and mid control. Although I already appreciated the original sound of the guitar, the OBP-3 enhanced the overall tonal quality.

The prewiring was well-executed, and the provided wiring diagram was clear and easy to follow. Replacing the preamp was a relatively hassle-free process.

One minor concern, potentially specific to my particular guitar, was that the MID pot with push/pull was too tall to fit in the desired location. Thankfully, the cavity had greater depth in another corner, allowing me to accommodate the pot without major complications.

Great service after the sale.

Had an Obp-2 prewired. I’ve never done anything like this before and had no idea which wire to solder to the pot. I called and got talked through the final stages of the installation. Great service after the sale.

Great Preamp for some juice where needed

Take my 4 stars with a grain of salt, as I didn't check the sizes of the mount holes on my bass.. so I had to rewire mine onto different pots that actually fit my bass. I have changed the tone/response of the preamp a little since I used some separate valued pots, the end result is the active volume being a little quieter than passive mode with everything leveled. A little boost on both the B/T controls fixes it with plenty of room left to move, so it's not a big bother - and I'm almost positive due to my specific rewire anyway.

That being said, sounds great! Purchased as a replacement for my Carvin as I wanted to trade its 3 band preamp for a two band with a tone control instead (wiring in a tone control to this is easy as well!). I still mainly use passive, but this gives a good controllable boost and that sweet Aguilar active sound where i want it. The wiring kit I received was wired up nicely and packaged nicely as well. Plus I got a sticker in the box, hell yeah.
